ITEM: Vintage Aeroplane Photo Supply Real Photo of WWI FRENCH NIEUPORT BIPLANE FIGHTER. The photos are stamped APPROVED FOR RELEASE BY THE RCAF because the Royal Canadian Air Force approved these as aircraft recognition photos during WWII. After the war Aeroplane Photo Supply turned to selling aviation photos commercially. But the RCAF stamp on the back of these dates them between 1940-1945.
The WWI aircraft photos I am listing were collected by Lieutenant Raymond Poterack from Grand Rapids, Michigan who was a US Navy pilot in WWII. In the 1940's he collected these Aeroplane Photo Suppply photos of World War I fighters and bombers. These are real photos developed from negatives. The images are from WWI and they were developed by Aeroplane Photo Supply in Toronto, Canada in the 1940's. So they are not strictly original to WWI, but they are not recent reproductions either. Some of these are quite rare and sought after by collectors. Raymond Poterack was later a McDonnell Douglas engineer who worked on the F-4 Phantom Jet design team.
